PRICES ON THE RISE
Compared to a month ago, gas prices in Yakima are up by 19.6 cents per gallon but remain 9.8 cents lower than they were a year ago.
Meanwhile, the national average price of diesel has increased slightly by 1.0 cent over the past week, now standing at $3.62 per gallon.
WE KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE CHEAPEST GAS
You'll find the cheapest gas in Yakima at the Ahtanum Fuel Stop/Sinclair on Goodman Road, where prices are as low as $3.09 per gallon. Across the valley, Wheeler’s Kountry Korner in Wapato offers the most affordable fuel at just $2.93 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says, "while the pace of increases remains modest for now, upward momentum could accelerate in the coming weeks as refinery maintenance intensifies and the broader transition to summer gasoline begins.”
THE 'UNPREDICTABLE' VARIABLE
Dehaan says "geopolitical tensions—particularly between the U.S. and Iran—remain an unpredictable variable, injecting risk into the outlook and leaving prices vulnerable to sudden shifts.”
With the holiday giving residents extra time to seek out cheaper fuel, now might be a good opportunity to fill up the tank.
