
Work Resumes on US 12 Near Naches, Expected to Reopen by Week’s End
Things are about to get back to normal.
However until that happens later this week, work continues to restore US 12, just east of Naches after a month-long pause.
DETOUR IS EXPECTED TO BE REMOVED THIS WEEK
The work restarted last week and this week officials say they'll repave the road, re-open the area and close the detour. Until then US 12 and the nearby Yakima Greenway Trail remain closed. A detour is available using local roads. WSDOT "thanks the Naches community for its patience during this process." The work is expected to be complete by the end of the week.

If you're driving to the gas station today prices in Yakima are up 10.0 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.69 per gallon today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 91 stations in Yakima. That's on top of a 14 cent price increase last week. Prices in Yakima are 24.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 7.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has increased 2.9 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $3.61 per gallon.

The cheapest gas in the Yakima area is $3.09 at the Ahtanum Fuel Stop on Goodman Road. The cheapest gas in the Yakima Valley is $2.85 at Wheeler's Kountry Korner in Wapato.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy says we’re now starting to see seasonal trends take hold on the West Coast, with those pressures expected to gradually push eastward in the weeks ahead. He says the west coast will likely continue to see price increases as the industry prepares for the summer gasoline blend.
