Yakima Gas Prices Tumble Again, Offering Rare Relief Amid Soaring Costs
For the second straight week, gas prices in the Yakima have continued to decline, offering some relief amid the high fuel costs and high gas taxes in Washington State.
WHILE PRICES DROP STILL EXPENSIVE
According to GasBuddy's recent survey of 91 stations across Yakima, the average price of gasoline has dropped by 3.1 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $4.08 per gallon. This marks an overall decrease of 5.5 cents per gallon in the last week, with current prices at $4.03 per gallon. Despite the recent drop, prices remain higher than they were a month ago by 7.6 cents per gallon and are 15.1 cents higher than the same period last year.

DO YOU PUMP DIESEL FUEL?
Nationally, diesel prices have seen a slight uptick. The average price of diesel increased by 3.2 cents over the past week, now standing at $3.67 per gallon.
WE'VE ARRIVED AT THE MIDPOINT
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy says with oil prices on the uptick last week, "the national average price of gasoline also inched slightly higher, with just over half of U.S. states seeing increases, while nearly two dozen saw declines.” He adds as the summer driving season hits its midpoint "gasoline inventories remain just below average, and diesel inventories are notably tighter—factors he says that continue to put pressure on diesel prices.
RUSSIA MUST BE PEACEFUL
De Haan also says ongoing tariff discussions and concerns about economic growth could influence oil markets especially in Russia. “Absent any major developments, we expect the national average to remain rangebound in the low-$3 per gallon area, where it has spent much of the summer."
For Yakima residents, the recent downward trend in gas prices offers welcome relief, even as prices remain high compared to what GasBuddy calls "historical averages."
