IT'S REQUIRED BY WA STATE LAW
Under Washington State law, local jurisdictions are mandated to adopt and regularly update a Comprehensive Plan — a vital document that guides land use, development, and other community planning efforts. The upcoming open house aims to gather public input and create community participation in shaping Yakima’s future.
YOUR FEEDBACK IS VITAL
The event will feature multiple informational stations covering topics like land use, housing, economic development, historic preservation, parks and recreation, and downtown revitalization.
You're encouraged to share your ideas and feedback to help create the final version of the plan.

THE AIM TO CONTINUE OUR QUALITY OF LIFE
The initiative aligns with the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA), enacted in 1990 to address issues like rapid population growth, suburban sprawl, environmental protection, and quality of life. The GMA requires most local governments to develop and update comprehensive plans that address a broad range of community priorities, including affordable housing, regional transportation, open space, environmental sustainability, historic preservation, and public facilities.
