
It’s Time to Make a Difference—Volunteer in Yakima
If you have some extra time why not volunteer to help others in the community? When you give back to the community through volunteering you not only help the city but you The Yakima City Council is looking for volunteers just like you to serve on various city boards, committees, and commissions.
HOW ABOUT VOLUNTEERING FOR THE BIKE COMMITTEE ?
A number of positions are currently vacant or nearing the end of their terms, including roles on the Arts Commission, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Henry Beauchamp Community Center, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, Public Facilities District Board, and Tree City USA Board.

Any of those volunteer opportunities sound good to you? You can apply by submitting your application to the City Clerk’s Office by May 1. Detailed information about each role and the application process is available here. Some positions require additional materials such as resumes or supplemental forms so be prepared.
HOW LONG DO YOU WANT TO SERVE?
Yakima city officials say the positions vary in length from two to four years and have special eligibility requirements. Check out all the information in the link above.
The council’s Nominating Committee will review all applications, and the Yakima City Council will make final appointments. Volunteering offers a chance to contribute to the city’s arts, parks, transportation, and public services, shaping Yakima’s future.
