A Yakima store is hoping to help save kids lives with a life jacket give away this Saturday, July 17. Coastal plans to give away some 300 life jackets for kids up to 12 years of age on Saturday during a drive-through event at Yakima's State Fair Park.

300 LIFE JACKETS WILL BE FREE TO ALL FAMILIES STARTING AT 11:AM

The give away starts at 11:00AM. State Fair Park is located at 1301 Fair Avenue. If you go to the event you need to enter the park at Gate #15 to get your free life jacket which are being given away until they're all gone.

LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE SEEN PEOPLE DIE WITHOUT LIFE JACKETS

Yakima County Sheriff's officials have already had to deal with at least three drownings so far this summer one in which a man drowned after falling off a paddle board. He was not wearing a life jacket which is required by law.
The hot weather pushes a lot of people to find cool weather on the water and without a life jacket that can lead to a disaster. Sheriff's officials say Currents and other water dangers can be unpredictable, and everyone must stay informed on current conditions and take precautions to keep a day in the water both fun and safe.

COASTAL OFFICIALS GIVING AWAY 6,000 LIFE JACKETS NATIONWIDE

“Water safety is top of mind for all of us here at Coastal,” according to Coastal CEO Lori McKinnon. “Some of our employees have shared with me over the years their personal experiences with family members drowning in lakes and rivers, when they believe simply wearing a life jacket could have made all the difference. This year we are giving away 6,000 life jackets to kids in the communities we serve. We hope that we can help make a difference when it comes to families coming home safe after a day of playing in the water.”
Local authorities and Coastal encourages all kids and parents as well to wear life jackets when on water in Yakima County.
