A store employee in Yakima was assaulted and a suspect arrested after a robbery on Sunday. Yakima Police say the 44-year-old suspect walked into Eve's Garden Sunday night and displayed a knife demanding money.

THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA HELPED TO PUT THE MAN IN JAIL

Police say he assaulted the employee stole money and ran from the store. The robbery was reported at about 7:50 pm Sunday. Shortly after the robbery police were able to obtain a picture of the suspect from the store security cameras. That picture was posted on social media and tips started to flow into the Yakima Police Department. Officers were able to identify the man and about 2 and a half hours after the robbery the man was arrested at a local hotel. He's now being held in the Yakima County jail facing a charge of first degree robbery. His bail has been set at $100,000.

THE EMPLOYEE SUFFERED ONLY MINOR INJURIES

The employee was checked by Officers at the scene and found with minor injuries. The woman was not taken to a hospital.
Yakima Police say it happens every year when the weather changes and temperatures increase. They see an increase in crime. Why do they see the increase? Capt. Jay Seely says it's simply because more people are out and about especially during the evening hours. Robberies, assaults and domestic violence and burglary are the most popular crimes during the spring and summer months.
