A domestic incident at a home in Yakima on Tuesday has lead to the arrest of a Corrections Officer for the city of Yakima.

THE INCIDENT WAS REPORTED ON TUESDAY EVENING

Yakima Police responded to a home at about 7:00 pm Tuesday following a report of a domestic violence incident involving a couple at the home. According to a press release from the Yakima Police Department when Officers arrived they quickly identified one of the individuals involved was employed as a Corrections Officer for the City of Yakima.

To make sure there was transparency and fairness the Yakima Police Watch Commander contacted the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and formally requested an independent investigation.

AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION LEAD TO AN ARREST

The sheriff’s office conducted a thorough investigation, which resulted in probable cause for the arrest of the involved Corrections Officer. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Kittitas County Jail on charges including Domestic Violence Assault in the 4th Degree, Interfering with the Reporting of Domestic Violence, and Unlawful Imprisonment.

YAKIMA POLICE WILL ALSO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION

The Yakima Police Department has announced that it will also conduct an administrative investigation into the incident. The internal review is separate from the criminal investigation led by the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office. No identities and no other details have been released as the investigations continue today.
