
Yakima Police Investigate Armed Robbery and Shooting on North 6th Street
Yakima Police are investigating a robbery and shooting reported at a home in the 700 block of North 6th Street on Wednesday. The incident was reported at about 3:30 pm Wednesday when police responded to an armed robbery at a home in the 700 block of N. 6th Street. A witness reported hearing gunfire during the incident however no injuries were reported.
A MAN WITH A GUN ENTERED THE HOME AND STOLE ITEMS
When Officers arrived they found a man masked and armed with a firearm who had entered the home, stole property, and fled in a vehicle. Police say they found evidence of gunfire at the scene of the robbery. A press release from the Yakima Police Department says Officers used the suspect vehicle's "unique" features to track the suspect to the 1700 block of Dalton Lane.

THE SUSPECT FLED WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED
Authorities say when they arrived the suspect fled into a large nearby property. Officers created a perimeter and deputies from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from Union Gap Police and Yakima Valley SWAT, responded to help take the suspect into custody. While applying for a search warrant, the suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended without incident. The 25-year-old suspect faces charges of First-Degree Robbery and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. An investigation continues today.
