Yakima is Home To The Fastest Pizza Maker in the Northwest
Sarah Rike of Yakima is one fast pizza maker. In fact the General Manager of the Domino's store on 72nd Avenue in Yakima was the recent winner of Domino's Fastest Pizza Maker Competition for the Northwest region. The win for Rike means she now advances to the next round in the competition. This time she'll be demonstrating the art of making pizza while trying to beat the clock and a bunch of other competitors in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday February 16.
It's not just about how fast the Domino's pizza is made but also quality
It's not an easy task. Each pizza maker in the Northwest regional competition was judged to see how fast they could make one large cheese pizza and two large one-topping pizzas. Speed is the main factor but officials say the pizza makers were also judged on quality as well. Rike says speed is important but she says she also pays attention to quality so she doesn't lose points. Rike was able to grab the win with a time of 1 minute 21 seconds.
Rike says she's a dedicated pizza maker in Yakima
Rike started her career with Domino's in Yakima in 2009. In November, she was promoted from assistant manager to general manager.
“I am so excited to compete in the World’s Fastest Pizza Maker Competition,” says Rike. “It takes a lot of practice, work and repetition to compete, and I’m dedicated to making quality pizzas quickly. This type of competition makes me strive to be even better.”
If Rike comes out on top with the fastest pizza making in the regional competition in Dallas she'll then will advance to the 2022 World’s Fastest Pizza Maker Competition set for May 10 at the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rike will appear on The Morning News on KIT on Tuesday at 8:15 am. Don't miss our fun conversation about pizza making with this pizza professional.
