The new manager for the Yakima Airport has a bold vision for the future that includes more passengers and more choices.

Rob Peterson was previously assistant manager, a position he held from 2011 before taking the new job.

The city recently took full control of the airport and will now run it as a city department.

Peterson says he's looking forward to repairing and updating the aging infrastructure at the airport, but the biggest goal is attracting more business, "The main areas of focus in conjunction with the city of Yakima is to increase the marketing of the airport. That's one item that's been lacking for a few years."

Peterson says he'll work with a consulting agency the city recently hired to try to attract more airlines and get more people to use the airport.
