Authorities say the officer was called to the 1400 block of South 8th Street in Sunnyside at about 8:00 pm where the officer was shot.

Police say the 37-year-old suspect was arrested for Vehicular Assault.

A 70-year-old man was injured and taken to a Yakima hospital but then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he's being treated for burns.

The officers car was hit and the officer, who hasn't been identified was hit in the ankle. The suspect was also shot and taken into custody.

The two-year-old child involved in the incident was located and turned over to Washington State Child Protective Services.

No other arrests have been made. Police haven't identified the second suspect.

The students have not been identified. School officials say the continue to investigate the incident.

The suspect is being held in the Yakima County Juvenile Jail on a charges including second degree attempted murder.
