Removal of Train Tracks Will Cause Traffic Delays

A section of unused railroad tracks that cross 1^st Street at H Street will be removed this Thursday, June 14^th. The removal of the unused tracks will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday. Work to take out the tracks and repave the area with asphalt is expected to be completed by 4:00 pm that day.

The project will affect traffic flow in the area while it is underway.  Throughout the day on Thursday, traffic on 1^st Street near the site of the track removal will be restricted to one lane in each direction.  Additionally, H Street will be closed to traffic between 2^nd Street and Front Street.

Drivers are encourage to use alternate routes if possible.

The railroad tracks that are being removed are part of a spur that used to serve the Boise Cascade saw mill. Since wood processing operations at the old saw mill have ceased, the tracks have gone unused.
