The Yakima County Assessor’s Office has announced it will begin mailing out 2026 property value notices starting May 27. Office officials say because of mail processing and presorting procedures, property owners with multiple parcels may start receiving their notices as early as May 22.

YOU NOW HAVE MORE TIME TO FILE AN APPEAL

According to the Yakima County Assessor's Office state law generally provides property owners a 30-day window from the mailing date to file an appeal with the County Board of Equalization. However, at the request of the Yakima County Assessor, the Yakima County Commissioners voted in favor of extending the filing period to 60 days.
The extension offers taxpayers more time to review property valuations and records.

MORE TIME TO LOOK OVER YOUR TAX DOCUMENTS

Because notices are being mailed earlier than required many property owners will also have extra time to review assessments before the filing deadline. Property owners can also access valuation and property record information online through the Yakima County Assessor’s Office website. Taxpayers are reminded that property taxes are due in two installments: the first half by April 30 and the second half by October 31.

QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS?

“Our goal is to provide taxpayers with as much time and information as possible,” says Jacob Tate, Yakima County Assessor. Tate says they encourage property owners to review their information carefully and contact his office with any questions or concerns.
Tate says it's vitally important review the valuation notice thoroughly. He says errors will be corrected, and property owners who believe their assessed value does not reflect the market value as of January 1, 2026, have the right to file an appeal within the "extended statutory period."
