The Toppenish Mural Society is excited to bring back its popular community event, "Mural in a Day," this summer—with a special focus on restoring a local landmark.
On Saturday, June 6th, a group of talented artists will gather at the site of the city’s first mural, “Clearing the Land,” painted in 1989.

A MURAL IN NEED OF SOME LOVE

According to a press release from the Toppenish Mural Society, the mural, located on the corner of Washington and Toppenish Ave., has been through 37 years of weather exposure and is in urgent need of a restoration.
The artists will spend the day repainting the mural from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm The wall has already been sanded and prepared for the project, so work can get underway immediately.

A PLACE FOR YOU TO ENJOY WATCHING PAINT DRY

You are invited to attend and watch the artists at work, as bleachers will be set up nearby for public viewing. Before the mural restoration starts you can meet the artists at Old Timer’s Plaza, located across the street from the mural site.

ENJOY BREAKFAST

The Toppenish Lions Club will serve a $10 breakfast from 7:00 am to 10:00 am so you can enjoy a great breakfast while watching the artists restore the mural.
The event highlights Toppenish’s rich "artistic heritage and community spirit" offering everyone a chance to see local art being revitalized. The restored mural will continue to show the cities commitment to its history and legacy in the Yakima Valley.
