The city of Yakima has declared two properties in the city chronic nuisance properties after Yakima Police Officers have responded numerous times to the businesses.

CITY MEETS WITH YPD TO TALK ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE PROPERTIES

The Yakima Police Department recently held a study session on the properties with the Yakima City Council. The two properties are the Yakima Inn located at 1022 N. 1st Street and a local bar called El Asadero located at 1107 South 3rd Street.

POLICE RESPONDING TO SERIOUS INCIDENTS

Documents from the department say the "owner of the hotel property entered into a written correction agreement on August 11 of 2025." Officers say some measures have been taken to make the property safer including the use of parking passes for tenants, increased lighting, and an updated security system. However police say the owners haven't met deadlines to correct the problems at the hotel.
Police have responded to 12 serious calls for service at the hotel since 2023.

POLICE STILL WAITING FOR COMPLIANCE

Police say the local bar, El Asadero faces the same challenges after police responded to 6 serious calls for service since 2024.
The city documents say the "nuisance activities at this property have not been permanently abated."

THE CITY STILL WORKING WITH THE PROPERTY OWNERS

Police officials told the city council recently that the nuisance ordinance "has been effective in reducing criminal activity at 1022 N. 1st St. but it is a long process."
City officials say they want to give the property owners a chance to implement the corrective measures before taking further action.
