The Greater Yakima Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidate forum next week. Meet some of the people running in the Primary Election coming soon. While not every candidate will be at the Chamber's meet and greet event, here is a general idea of who will be on our primary election ballots.

When Is the Yakima County Primary Election 2026?

This year, the primary election for Washington State is Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The general election is Tuesday, November 3rd.

 

Federal

  • So far, 11 candidates are running for the Legislative District 4 Congressional seat.

State

  • Legislative District 14: There are three candidates for Position 1, and three for Position 2. 
  • Legislative District 15: Only one candidate filed to run as State Senator.
  • Legislative District 15: Two candidates have filed for State Representative Position 1, and three have filed for Position 2.

County Positions on the Ballot:

  •  Assessor
  • Auditor
  • Clerk
  • Coroner
  • Prosecuting Attorney
  • Sheriff
  • Treasurer
  • Commissioner District 1
  • District Court Judge (Four positions are open)

Judicial

  • 5 Supreme Court judge positions will be on the ballot and 1 Court of Appeals judge

City

  • Precinct Committee Officers

Persons wishing to register to vote by mail in Yakima County can fill out the required voter registration form and mail it to PO BOX 12570, Yakima, WA, 98909-2570.
