It’s Up Again This Week? Yep. And Get Ready For A Spendy Summer
It's almost time for the summer driving season as gas prices are on the rise in Yakima and around the state. GasBuddy officials say the average gasoline prices in Yakima have risen 2.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.37 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's survey of 91 stations in Yakima.
PRICES ARE CHEAPER IN THE LOWER YAKIMA VALLEY
Prices in Yakima are 9.2 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 11.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest stations in the valley are at the Wolf Den in Wapato and Yakamart in Toppenish at $3.85 a gallon. It's $3.89 a gallon at the Ahtanum Fuel Stop on Goodman Road in Yakima.
THE NATIONAL PRICE IS DOWN THIS WEEK
The national average price of gasoline has fallen 3.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.58 per gallon today. The national average is down 3.7 cents per gallon from a month ago and stands 6.1 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations across the country.
COULD WE SEE BIG PRICE SPIKES THIS SUMMER?
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy says we've seen the average price of gas drop in many states over the last week as the preparations for summer fuel are nearly finished. "With gas prices now nearing a 10-cent drop to the high we saw a few weeks ago, the future looks good as we get closer to Memorial Day; price drops could potentially accelerate after last week's jobs data shows the economy continues to cool off. While gas prices stand slightly above where they were last year, I expect most Americans will see prices fall before the holiday weekend."
