Sign Up for a Slightly Spooky Tour of the Capitol Theatre This Summer
If you missed the first round of Shorty tours at the Capitol Theatre, you're in luck because they are bringing them back this summer. Shorty's Tours are for all-ages, so yes, bring the kids, too.
This announcement comes fresh off the heels of the public Capitol Campaign to help raise funds to restore Yakima's historic gem--it's the place we can go to see first-rate Broadway musicals and traveling plays!
What's a Capitol Theatre Shorty's Tour?
Legend has it that the ghost of a former staffer named Shorty roams the halls and backstage at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima. Volunteer tour guides would love to take you around the historic building and let you see the inner workings of the theater.
The Capitol Theatre was first built in the early 1920s and was damaged in a fire during the 70s. After it was restored, patrons and staff reported feeling a ghostly presence and they said strange things happened inside the building both before and after shows.
Get a preview of the 2026-2027 Season of shows coming to the Capitol starting this August!

Shorty's Tours are limited in size because some of the places you'll go in the theatre can't fit a lot of people at one time. They are happening every Wednesday in July at 6 p.m. plus two separate Saturday tours. (Note: Some of the tours are already sold out, so hurry to sign up!)
