If this weekend’s weather doesn't get you champin’ at the bit to go camping, you’ll have to turn in your woodsman card! All systems point to amazing weather -- but wait … what about the bugs? Camping means insects and weather means insect potential.

In Popular Science, The National Pest Management Association has released its predictions for which types of pests will invade your backyard and campground barbecues this summer.

The report breaks the predictions down by U.S. region. On the East Coast, where the spring has been chilly, mosquitoes are expected in high numbers. The pests require water to breed, and as all of winter's leftover snow melts, it creates plenty of standing water for them to mate in. Bummer to have to shovel it all winter long only to turn it into a romantic resort for blood suckers!

What about us?  Here on the West Coast we can expect pests to emerge earlier with our warm winter and early spring. However, the drought there means mosquitoes will be concentrated to just a few areas, which the National Pest peeps say means they're more likely to transmit the deadly West Nile Virus to humans!  No kidding, they say concentrated water means concentrated crowds of people.
