Work has started at Yakima's Franklin Park as volunteers from Yakima Rotary Clubs build a new playground and picnic shelter and continue to work on a new pavilion for summer concerts.
Thanks to major fundraising efforts by Yakima’s Sunrise Rotary Club, construction is almost complete on a pavilion at Franklin Park valued at $200,000, which will serve as a home for family picnics and community events as well as a stage for the City’s summer concert series, the Yakima Folklife Festival, etc.

It has a pool, open green space and tennis courts but Yakima's Franklin Park is missing one thing: a playground. But that will soon change. The Yakima Rotary Club is donating more than $80,000 to build a new playground at the park.
Franklin Park once had a playground but it was removed after becoming a constant target of vandals...
