A new program was kicked off in Yakima today to help kids and parents lead a more healthy life. Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, the Yakima YMCA and Pacific Northwest University have joined together to kick off Actively Changing Together (ACT). It is an exercise and nutrition program to help overweight kids and their parents. Memorial's Community Health Coordinator Kate Sansom says the 12-week program involves kids and parents who have been referred by a doctor. The research goal is to evaluate the effects of the program on eating, physical activity, body composition and quality of life.
