It's a Memorial Garden and it's being planned at the Yakima Police Department to honor Sergeant Joe Deccio who passed away while performing his law enforcement duties for the City of Yakima.

IT'S BEEN FIVE YEARS SINCE DECCIO DIED

August 3 of this year marks the five-year anniversary of his death and the department is now planning for the Yakima Law Enforcement Memorial Garden. A press release from the Yakima Police Department says the "sacred space" will serve as a lasting tribute to Deccio’s sacrifice, dedication, and service to our community. Yakima Police say the garden is a "collaborative effort that reflects our commitment to honoring those who serve and protect." That means it's only going to be a reality with the help of the community and sponsors.
