A new study found that the more alcohol young women drink in the years between their first period and their first pregnancy, the higher their risk of developing breast cancer. One drink per day during those years raises the risk by 13 percent.

The research also found that for every drink a young woman has daily, her risk of benign breast disease increases by 15 percent. Even though benign breast disease isn't cancerous, its presence can increase breast cancer risk by up to 500 percent.

Alcohol is already known to raise the risk of breast cancer, but this shows the even greater risk of women drinking during these particular years.
