It's a a springtime tradition not unlike the buzzards returning to Hinkley, Ohio.

O.K., they're really Turkey Vultures but they call them Buzzards and Hinkley has been watching for their return every year since 1957 but I digress....
What I'm talking about is a Yakima tradition where members of the Yakima City Council appear at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon and share with chamber members and guests the current "state of the city". (kinda like the president's State of the Union speech)
It's an update on projects, progress and work yet to be done.  In addition this year's meeting comes at a time when candidates for districts 1, 3, 5 & 7 are preparing to file later this month and following the reception of a letter to council from the Chamber last year asking for better behavior from the council.  Most recently the council voted 5-2 to put councilmember Kay Funk in a 6 month timeout from representing on various committees and boards.
Alternative seating is available for those who do not want to purchase a lunch ticket, but still want to attend the meeting set for 11:30 to 1:00 this Wednesday May 8.
