Yakima County Food Inspections for June

WHAT WENT WRONG: A LOOK AT JUNE'S FAILED INSPECTIONS

Failed food inspections for June listed on yakimacounty.us included two grocery stores, one convenience market, one buffet, and six restaurants. Locations included Moxee, Toppenish, Yakima, Wapato, and Sunnyside. Our news policy is that we do not list the business names of failed inspections without giving them a chance to respond.

Their cumulative violations included:

Food obtained from unapproved sources
Improper date markings
Items with high risk of listeria were not date marked
No thermometers present
Improper handwashing
Physical facilities not being maintained
No certified food protection managers present
Worker food cards not updated
Toxic substances improperly used
Entrance not controlled
Improper hot and cold food temperatures

Some of those passing food inspections in June were follow-ups for compliance because for one reason or another they failed their inspection in a previous month.

But it wasn't all bad news. In June 2026, 72 Yakima County food establishments were inspected by the health department and most of them passed their health inspections.
