Catholic Charities Brings 3 Public EV Charger Locations to Yakima

There will be some new electric vehicle charging stations in Yakima and Union Gap to look forward to coming this fall. Catholic Charities announced they will have three new places for locals and visitors to charge up starting in the fall.

Thanks to a Washington State Climate Commitment Act grant the charity received, totalling over $3,000,000, the nonprofit will be able to add the charging locations with the aim of reducing carbon emissions and expanding sustainable transit options in Central Washington.

We already have one of their EV charging stations open in Yakima at Catholic Charities Main Campus (Now Open): 5301 West Tieton Drive, Yakima, and now the following EV charging station locations will be open in September 2026: 303 East D Street, in Yakima, and St. Vincent Center at 2629 Main Street in Union Gap.

To ensure rapid charging capability for the community, every location features identical equipment. Six Level 3 DC Fast Chargers will provide a total of 12 active charging stalls per site once fully operational. - Catholic Charities

The Charity Aims to Use the New EV Charging Stations to Support Local Community Programs

"The EV stations will allow us to lower our environmental impact, reduce operating costs over time, and ultimately direct those savings into programs to serve our community needs," said Manuel Villafán, Jr., CEO of Catholic Charities in a press release.

Another EV charging station will be open this fall in Wenatchee in the Catholic Charities parking near the Pybus Public Market at 135 S. Worthen.
