With the Secret Crush and Red Wine and Chocolate weekend coming fast, some great news that should reinforce your love of Yakima Valley Wines.

A new study finds one to two glasses of wine a day is beneficial to your health. University of Rochester researchers found the brains of mice exposed to the equivalent of two-and-a-half glasses of wine each day were more efficient at removing waste products that are associated with dementia. In other words, the wine helped clean the brains of test mice.

Study authors say their work shows for the first time that low doses of alcohol are potentially beneficial to the brain in its ability to remove waste.

There was no mention as to what specific type of wine is best to drink, but they did speculate that other types of alcohol, including beer, would likely have the same impact.

Researchers remind us that the study was only done on mice, so more research would be needed to confirm alcohol's affects on the human brain.  But given just how good Yakima Valley Wines really are, chances are there would be no shortage of Yakima Valley volunteers for such a study!  Cheers!  (Daily Mail)
