Yakima crews will be busy with road work that will disrupt Traffic while Cascade Natural Gas crews begin Phase 2 of an 8-inch gas main installation. The work starts Monday, May 9 on Bonnie Doon Avenue with crews working west from 19th Avenue to 30th Avenue. A city news release says crews will then proceed south on 19th Avenue to Nob Hill Boulevard, then from 19th Avenue going east along the north side of Nob Hill to approximately Queen Avenue. City officials say it's major work in fact they say the Nob Hill portion involves a directional bore under 16th Avenue.

The Machine itself may be in your way as you drive in the area

Watch for that machine because city officials say the boring machine will sit at the Yakima Transit bus turn-out on Nob Hill Boulevard between 17th Avenue and 19th Avenue.

Starting Monday, May 16th the machine will occupy one lane of Nob Hill Boulevard westbound between 17th Avenue and 19th Avenue 24 hours a day for 10 days. Reader board signs are in place to alert traffic. The directional boring will take place between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am Monday thru Friday and will occupy both westbound lanes during the evening working hours. Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane at the intersection of Nob Hill Boulevard and South 16th Avenue.
