City Road Work Continues Friday in Yakima
If you've noticed an increase in road and signal work in the city of Yakima you're right because there's always an increase in the work as summer winds down to prepare for fall. That's when some road work can't be done because of the weather.
Work happens on Friday on Washington and North 16th Avenues
But until then city crews continue with water line work on Friday that could slow you down. The work will result in traffic restrictions at the intersection of Washington Avenue and North 16th Avenue. The work starts at 5:00 am and last until 3:30 pm Friday afternoon. Do you live in the area? City officials say Yakima water customers in the project area can expect water outages during the project work hours.
Traffic will be restricted so it could slow your commute
Traffic will be limited to one lane in all directions in the project area. Due to heavy traffic volumes on Washington and 16th Avenue, drivers can expect delays. Drivers should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed.
Drivers are reminded that the speed limit through all traffic-related work zones within the City of Yakima is 20 miles-per-hour.
Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.
The repairs may cause interruptions in scheduled refuse collection. Contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 509-575-6005 for more information.
