Driving in Yakima? City Crews Are Busy With Road Work
Yakima city crews continue with summer road and signal work. City officials say water line work will result in the closure of Powerhouse Road between Englewood Avenue and North 26th Avenue starting Wednesday, July 13th through Friday, July 15th. Work on the project will begin at 7:00 am and last until 3:30 pm each day.
You might want to think about a different route to wherever you are going
Due to heavy traffic volumes on Powerhouse Road, drivers can expect delays and should use alternate routes if possible until the work is completed. Detours around the construction site will be available. City officials say the work may cause interruptions in scheduled garbage service. Contact the City of Yakima Refuse Division at 509-575-6005 for more information. Access to homes and businesses in the project area will be maintained as best as possible and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.
Work continues on the Nelson Dam project still impacting traffic
Also work continues on the Nelson Dam removal and replacement project and will result in temporary road closures over the next few weeks.
Work scheduled to continue the next four weeks includes pouring concrete for a new fish screen structure. The work requires temporary closure of South Naches Road at Powerhouse Road. This closure will start at 6:00 am and end by 5:00 pm on the following dates:
Thursday July 14th
Thursday July 21st
Thursday July 28th
Wednesday August 3rd
As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
