(UPDATED 11:35 A.M. )Yakima Police Investigating Saturday Shooting
Yakima Police say they're investigating a shooting reported Saturday night that they say could have been an accident. Police say they were told the shooting happened in a car possibly when another person was handling the gun. Police met that car on Fair Avenue Saturday night after police received a call about a possible shooting. An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital where he died. The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Omar Sanabria-Rizo. Police continue to investigate. No arrests have been made.
PREVIOUS COVERAGE Yakima Police detectives are searching for a homicide suspect after a man was shot on Saturday night. Just before 9:00 p.m. Saturday, police received a report of a gunshot victim who was being transported to a hospital by a car on Fair Avenue. The car then pulled into a parking lot on the 10th block of North Fair Avenue where officers were able to meet the victim and driver.
Police spoke with a 29-year-old Hispanic male who had been shot once in the lower back. An ambulance took the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his wound.
The Yakima Police Department is currently investigating.
