The man died from a gunshot wound according to Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice. The man's name hasn't been released. Because the man was found on the reservation the FBI and Yakima Nation police are handling the investigation.
Detectives with the Yakima Police and Yakima County Sheriff's office say more murders would be solved in more people would come forward and talk about what they know.
Police spoke with a 29-year-old Hispanic male who had been shot once in the lower back. An ambulance took the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his wound.
Yakima County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Wapato Police and Yakama Nation officers responded to the 100 block of Winaway road at about 6:00 p.m. Thursday for a shooting.
According to the initial report, the victim was unresponsive, not breathing and CPR was in progress. YPD officers also responded, and rescuers discovered that the man had suffered a stab wound to the chest.
