Yakima Police say a transient was injured Wednesday morning when he was lying on train tracks at 6th avenue and Gordon Road. Officers were called to the area at about 5:00 a.m. Wednesday where they found the man after his arm was severed by a passing train. Officers arrived and placed a tourniquet on his arm and carried him to a waiting ambulance. Officers say the man, who hasn't been identified may have been intoxicated and fell asleep on the railroad tracks. Capt. Jay Seely says he didn't wake up until the train had passed over him and cut off his arm. He's now recovering at a Yakima Hospital.
