
Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public Help in 2023 Homicide Case
The Yakima County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to solve a homicide case from 2023. According to sheriff's officials the homicide was reported October 24, of 2023.
THE MAN DIED AT THE SCENE
Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 1500 block of Bus Road near Mabton after a person reported finding a body in a ditch next to the roadway. When Deputies arrived they quickly learned the man was dead. An autopsy was conducted on the man's body and authorities learned the man died from violence. His fingerprints were taken of the man, and he was identified a few days later as 25-year-old Manuel Guzman-Gomez from Chiapas, Mexico. His family was notified of his death.

Sheriff's officials say they know someone has information about the case and they're hoping if it's you that you're willing to talk. A press release on the Yakima County Sheriff's Office Facebook page says "sometimes, witnesses are afraid to speak with us because they think they will get in trouble for withholding information or because they have a warrant."

Sheriff's officials say the most important thing is that they solve the case and arrest the person(s) responsible for the death of Guzman-Gomez.
