Yakima County Sheriff Bob Udell has announced his candidacy for Yakima Commissioner Position #1, the seat being vacated by Amanda McKinney, who is running for Congress in the 4th District.

THE SHERIFF SAYS HE LOOKS FORWARD TO A NEW CHALLENGE

Udell plans to retire as sheriff at the end of the year after completing his current term and expressed enthusiasm for his new opportunity.
During a press conference at Yakima Steak Company on Wednesday, Udell says, “Holding the important job of Yakima County commissioner offers a challenge I welcome and a responsibility I take very seriously.”

DEEP ROOTS AND TIES TO THE VALLEY

In a press release, Udell highlights his deep roots in the community, noting he was born and raised in Yakima County. As a lifelong resident, he emphasized his commitment to serving the Valley. With decades of leadership experience across multiple departments, Udell believes he has the skills needed to lead Yakima forward.

LOTS OF EXPERIENCE

“I have worked in almost every area of the Sheriff’s Office and have been instrumental in building relationships,” Udell says. “I want to continue to build on the trust of those I serve, making our community safe, prosperous, and a place we can be proud of.”
Interested candidates, including Udell, will need to file for office during candidate filing week in May.
