The Yakima City Council last night decided to not ask voters to pass a super majority tax proposal on the August ballot. The council voted to remove the issue from the ballot. It is now up to citizens to form a petition drive to get enough signatures to get the issue on the ballot later this year.

The council voted 4-3 to remove the issue from the August ballot. Council members Sara Bristol, Rick Ensey and Bill Lover voted against pulling the issue from the August ballot. The proposal calls for a super majority of council members before a tax would pass in Yakima.
