Yakima Ballots Arriving This Week for November Election
When will registered voters in Yakima County receive a ballot? This is the week.
Registered voters in Yakima County can expect to receive their ballots Thursday as the November 5 General Election approaches. According to Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross, early voters have already begun receiving their ballots, and all remaining ballots will be mailed by October 16.
ARE YOU REGISTERED TO VOTE?
For those who haven't registered yet, it's not too late. Potential voters can register online today through the Washington Secretary of State's office website.
Ross noted that ballots for military and overseas voters were sent out earlier this month. Voters are encouraged to be on the lookout for their ballots starting Thursday, as this year’s ballot will be busier than ever.
IT'S A BUSY BALLOT SO MAKE SURE TO VOTE BOTH SIDES OF EACH PAGE
In a notable change, Yakima County will feature a two-page ballot for the first time since the elimination of punch-card ballots in 2004, with the presidential race prominently displayed at the top of the back of page one, following four statewide initiatives.
In addition to the presidential race, the ballot includes congressional races, state-level elected offices, county commissioner seats, and various state and local ballot measures. Voters have the option to skip any contests they are uncertain about; those selections will not affect the validity of their ballot.
YOUR BALLOT IS DUE ON NOVEMBER 5 BUT DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE
Once ballots are received, voters must ensure their submissions are postmarked by Election Day, November 5, or delivered to a drop box or county elections office by 8:00 p.m. on that date.
For a preview of what will be on the ballot, a sample ballot is available on the Yakima County Elections Division website at www.yakimacounty.us/vote. Voters can also find more information about the election or contact the Yakima County Elections Division at 574-1340 for any inquiries.
Yakima County Republicans are also hosting secure drop box and drop off locations.
