All decked out for the 4th of July, is there another Carrie Underwood waiting in the wings?

Yakima music,  hundreds in cash and prizes and a beautiful day on stage -sounds like the Apple Jam is back for this year’s 4th of July Celebration!

Area musicians can sign up at YakimaAppleJam.com to compete in either the solo or the main stage contest with a May 23rd deadline for entry.

Public voting goes down on May 30th, and the performers who get the most votes win a spot in the AppleJam Battle of the Bands lineup.

So acts will not only need to be good, but they need to be good at social media and public relations!  “The first part of the selection process will depend on bands motivating their friends, family and fans to get out and vote,” said organizer Paul Crawford, Marketing Manager of Yakima Federal Savings and Loan, co-sponsors of this year’s 4th of July Festival along with Tire Centers, Inc.

The top prize: $500 for the main stage acts and $500 for the best solo performance.  New this year is an additional $500 for best overall performance. Either the soloist or the band will walk away with total of $1,000.

The Yakima Herald-Republic sponsored contests are open to all ages and all musical types, and there are no entry fees to compete.

This year’s 4th of July Celebration is scheduled from Noon to 11:00 p.m. Thursday, July 4th, at State Fair Park, 1301 South Fair Avenue, Yakima.  The next Carrie Underwood...are you out there?
