It is one of the largest reservations in the state of Washington. With over about 13,000 enrolled members, including me, the Yakama Nation is commemorating the Treaty of 1855. And everything starts today (June 7) at the Yakama Nation Cultural Center, located in Topppenish. A parade starts at 10 a.m., and there will also be vendors and other activities for families.

According to the Cultural Center Facebook page, Lakota hip-hop artist Frank Waln, from the Rosebud rez, will be doing a free performance. 

The Yakama Nation Treaty Days Pow Wow will be held in White Swan, where dancers, drummers, singers, spectators will gather to enjoy the pow wow. On Sunday (June 9), the new Miss Yakama Nation will be crowned.
