Monday is a day to honor veterans. Monday is Veteran's Day. Because the day is a federal holiday all city, county, state and federal offices will be closed. You are invited to the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Yakima.

THE PARADE IS SPONSORED BY YAKIMA'S LOCAL VFW

A news release from the city of Yakima says The parade is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars – Post 379. The parade starts at 10:45 am at the intersection of Yakima Avenue and 6th Street. The route will continue west on Yakima Avenue to 6th Avenue at 12:30 pm. Yakima Avenue will be closed to motorized traffic from 6th Avenue to 6th Street during the parade. 750 people are expected to watch the parade downtown. 50 Vehicles are involved.

AN EVENT IS PLANNED AFTER THE PARADE

No parking will be allowed on Yakima Avenue between 6th Street and 6th Avenue from 8:45 am until the parade is over. An event is planned after the parade on Monday.
A ceremony is set at the Korean, Vietnam memorial monument on the Yakima Greenway. The ceremony starts at 1:00 p.m.

PLENTY OF CLOSURES OF CITY OFFICES WILL HAPPEN

As a result of the holiday City Hall, Y-PAC, and Parks and Recreation offices will all be closed. The Harman Center will be closed. Yakima Transit fixed-route buses, Dial-A-Ride and Yakima-Ellensburg Commuter will not run Monday. If Monday is your garbage day the city will provide regular garbage collection services. Lions Pool will be open Monday
