Drivers are encouraged to avoid 16th Avenue between River Road and Madison Avenue if possible on the morning of Monday, September 24th and for most of the day on Tuesday, September 25th while a project is underway to install City drinking water service and fire service to a new facility being built on the John I. Haas campus.

City of Yakima crews will be working to grind out asphalt in the area on Monday from about 6:30am to 8:30am. On Tuesday, City crews will be doing the actual installation of water and fire services from about 6:00am until about 3:30pm. Also on Tuesday, Leingang Excavation and Construction will be making necessary sewer connections to the new Hass technology and research facility, which is being built near the intersection of River Road and 16th Avenue.

During the project, traffic delays in the area may occur. Traffic on 16th Avenue from Madison Avenue to River Road will be restricted to one southbound lane and one northbound lane on both Monday morning and most of the day on Tuesday.

Drivers should use alternate routes until the project is completed. As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily, dependent on weather, equipment failure, and emergencies.
