TUKWILA (AP) — Police say officers have shot and killed a man who fired a shotgun at them during standoff negotiations just south of Seattle.

Tukwila Police Sgt. Mike Murphy says two officers fired at the man at an apartment complex Thursday evening in an incident that began when the suspect shot and injured another man in an argument.

Murphy says the men argued and that one man fired at the other, hitting the victim and his car. The victim drove to the police station, crashing his vehicle into cars nearby.

Murphy says the victim told police what happened and upon arriving at the apartment complex, the suspect fired the shotgun at police.

Police negotiated with him for about an hour but Murphy says the man didn't want to surrender and that officers fatally shot him.

The victim was taken to a Seattle hospital with injuries police believe are not life threatening.

No further information was immediately available.
