Yakima Police Involved In Fatal Shooting Christmas Night
A 28-year-old man is dead after a five hour standoff at a Yakima home on Christmas night. Officers were called at about 7:00 p.m. December 25 to check on an intoxicated 28-year-old man who had threatened to shoot people. As soon as officers arrived, the man put a gun to his head and threatened to kill himself so officers backed off and the man walked inside the home.
The Suspect then began firing shots at officers from inside the residence. Yakima Police and Benton County Regional SWAT units were called and they attempted to talk to the man for five hours while the man continued shooting at officers. When they were unable to contact the man A SWAT officer returned fire and killed the 28-year-old suspect. The Washington State Patrol is now investigating the shooting. The victims' name hasn't been released.
