Earlier this year the Yakima City Council agreed to close Franklin Pool in 2026 as part of a $3 million cost-cutting package.

If you have a dog you'll want to be there. If you don't have a dog you'll want to be there just for the show. A press release from the city of Yakima says human and canine swimmers are invited.

The pool at Franklin Park on Tieton Drive is closed Monday and possibly Tuesday because of unhealthy air quality caused by smoke from wildfires in the region.

Proceeds from the event, just before the pool closes at the end of the season, go to help the Yakima Humane Society.
