It's time to cool off and jump in the pool!! The City of Yakima’s Franklin Pool, 2102 Tieton Drive is now open for the summer season. Thousands of people enjoy the pool every year and they also enjoy a fun events which are planned this year at Franklin Pool.

GRAB THE KIDS AND YOUR TUBES AND JUMP IN THE POOL FRIDAY

The plans include a Dive ‘N Movie event set for 8:30 pm on Friday, June 30. “The community is invited to turn a day at the pool into a night at the movies,” says Parks & Recreation Manager Ken Wilkinson. “Watch Luca on a giant inflatable screen while floating on a tube under the stars at Franklin Pool.”

The movie is free with pool admission. If you plan on attending make sure you have your own tubes for floating. Between that event to an event to close the season it's a long summer of swimming.

THE DOGS HIT THE POOL IN LATE SUMMER

To close out the 2023 summer season, Franklin Pool will host the 17 annual Paws in the Pool event on Sunday, August 20th, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.  "Dogs and their owners will get to enjoy the pool on the last day of the season just as they have for over a decade. Paws in the Pool admission is free for dogs, but owners pay regular admission fees."

MAYBE YOU ARE A LIONS POOL FAN?

Lions Pool, 509 W. Pine Street, has also reopened after being closed since May 1 for improvements that include construction and installation of a new air handling and dehumidification system. “We are excited to be able to re-open to the public and welcome them back,” said Recreation Program Supervisor Jason Zeller. Yakima Parks & Recreation staff also conducted annual maintenance at Lions Pool during the 6-week closure. As a result, the maintenance closure of Lions Pool scheduled in August will not be required.
