The board says it will work with the residents named in the letter to make sure the county is in compliance with state law. The board says it reserves the right to pursue all legal actions involving the matter.
The Yakima Board of County Commissioners is reviewing this matter with Yakima County legal staff and will comment further as it takes steps to respond to the allegations.
The first work will convert a storage facility next to the jail into a permanent homeless shelter to replace Camp Hope now located behind the former K-Mart on East Nob Hill Blvd. That facility is expected to be ready in June of next year.
