State officials are now sending 100 U.S. Health and Human Services personnel who were set to work in Yakima to other long term care facilities throughout the state.
The council Tuesday voted 5-2 to hold a future meeting but the date hasn't been set. Council members Holly Cousins and Mayor Patricia Byers voted against the measure saying while the council could listen there isn't much the city can do to actually help the former employees.
A news release says "like many in the community, Solarity was surprised by the abrupt closure of Astria Regional Medical Center and the impact it has on the employees, our members and the community at large."
