There used to be a time when people would put anything in the storm drains. Maybe you have seen the new warning markers near city drains - they're part of a program to educate the community about what the storm water system should be used for.

The latest part of that effort included the installation of 500 markers in the downtown area. The markers are placed directly next to storm water drains. Later this year, the city will be installing another 1000 curb markers at various locations around town. The cost of the curb markers is covered by a Washington State Department Of Ecology Grant.
