SEATTLE (AP) — State officials have christened the newest ferry boat, set to start sailing from Seattle to Bremerton in the spring.

Seattlepi.com reports Ferries chief Lynne Griffith and other officials dedicated the 144-car, 1,500-passenger ferry Wednesday on Harbor Island in Seattle.

Washington State Ferries' new boat, the Chimacum, takes its name from the Native American tribe that once gathered where the town of Chimacum is now, south of Port Townsend.

The newest ferry cost $123 million and is the third of four new ferries in its class to be built.
